Visiting Canberra?

The Australian Academy of Science’s Shine Dome is uniquely Canberra. The dome has been a much-loved feature of the Canberra landscape since its award-winning construction in 1959, and was National Heritage listed in 2005. Its modernist fittings and furnishings are timeless and elegant, and its spaces airy and retro-futuristic. Located next to the highly acclaimed New Acton Precinct, the Shine Dome is a short walk from four hotels and the Australian National University, and within comfortable walking distance of tourist attractions, cafes, parking and city shops.

Because we host private events most days, the Shine Dome only allows internal public access on occasional open days. There is public access to the grounds for people to enjoy its unique design.

15 Gordon St, Acton ACT 2601

The forecourt area of the Shine Dome in Gordon Street is for set-down and pick-up only. Paid street parking (limited time) is available in Gordon and other local streets. Public paid carparks are within short walking distance to the Shine Dome—across the road on Gordon Street, or the Wilson carparks on London Circuit and under the Nishi Building in Phillip Law Street. The Access Canberra website has more information on public car parks.
